Changing the background in Google Docs is a common feature that is mainly used when designing a document.
It grabs the attention of readers and improves the appearance of the document.
You can get rid of boring default color schemes with more attractive and eye-catching color options.
Fortunately, there are multiple ways to change the background in Google Docs.
So in this tutorial, I will explain how you can change the background color in Google Docx.
Apart from that, I will show how you can enable dark mode with the help of a third-party extension.
Method 1: Changing Background by Changing the Page Color in Google Docs
By default, the Google Docs writing area has a white background color.
But if you would like to change the page’s background color, you can easily do that.
To change a document’s background color, follow the steps below:
- Click on the File tab in the ribbon.
- In the File menu that appears, click on Page Setup.
- Click on the Page color drop-down option.
- Select any color of your choice from the available options
- Doing so, a new color will appear in the Page color option.
- Click on the “OK” button to apply the change.
- A new background color is applied to the document, as shown in the screenshot below.
Using the above method, you can change the background color of your Google document to anything you want.
Remember to always adjust the background color according to the color of the text so that it would increase the legibility of the text.
For example, it’s not a good idea to use a light background page color with light-colored text.
It’s best to choose contrasting colors. You can use this color wheel to try out a few combinations.
